Making the impossible possible: This is how you could describe the development of the ideal hi-fi furniture. On the one hand, it has to keep impact noise and vibrations away from the device, and on the other hand, it has to dissipate mechanical energy such as the hum of a transformer. Our modular shelf offers simple but clever solutions for this tricky task.

The design of the shelf was the result of numerous tests and listening sessions, which we used to ensure that the sound result met our expectations. We also benefited from our experience in developing record players and loudspeakers. Components placed on the shelf make music sound more relaxed and lively at the same time, with tight, clearly structured bass and precise timing.

Keep vibrations away

The bases of our shelves are not firmly connected to the stainless steel rods, but rest loosely on plastic rings. The gentle coupling significantly reduces the transmission of vibrations to the devices. In addition, the construction allows for a little play in the horizontal plane - and thus goes against traditional hi-fi principles. The advantage of this "freedom of movement" is effective mechanical decoupling; because the frequency at which the shelf fluctuates is below the audible spectrum, there is no disruptive interference.

Dissipate vibrations

The shelves are made of MDF laminated on both sides. A significant advantage of this material is that it can be flexibly processed using a CNC milling machine. Using geometric milling, we were able to distribute resonance maxima in such a way that vibration energy is diverted from the devices but not reflected back.

To look good
We believe that hi-fi furniture should look like furniture - and not like an oil rig. That's why the technical details for resonance optimization are located on the underside of the floors, where they are hardly noticeable.

With the shelf, Willi Bauer has followed the same design approach that can be seen in the dps record player and its speakers: a product that is the focus of home life must not impose itself through sensationalism. The construction of the shelf is reminiscent of the classics of furniture design: minimalist aesthetics paired with high functionality.
