The SL-1200G triple-layer turntable combines a brass and aluminum die-cast platter, a highly sensitive tonearm, and high-precision motor control technology.

Coreless direct drive motor
Conventional analog turntables suffer from a degradation in sound quality due to factors such as vibration associated with rotation speed and the unevenness of rotation, or "cogging." In the SL-1200G, cogging is eliminated thanks to a newly developed coreless direct-drive motor with no iron core. Furthermore, the dual-rotor structure reduces the load on the bearings while maintaining high torque and reducing small vibrations during rotation. All of these factors help reproduce the warm, deliciously nuanced sound that is so characteristic of analog recordings.

High-precision motor control technology
The integration of motor control technology developed for Blu-ray devices and the switching of drive mode depending on the operating state of the motor achieve high starting torque and high-speed stability.

Three-layer turntable platter
The turntable features a three-layer structure, with a highly rigid brass and aluminum die-cast platter. The rear surface is completely covered with a rubber damping layer to eliminate unnecessary resonance, dampening vibrations and ensuring a high level of rigidity. This achieves uniform rotational stability and an inertial mass that exceeds that of the SP-10MK2, the direct-drive turntable adopted as the standard by broadcasters around the world, and more than double that of the SL-1200MK5.

Precision balancing

If the weight of the turntable is not evenly distributed, high levels of vibration or noise are generated during rotation, which degrades the sound quality. The turntable is therefore balanced at the factory using special precision equipment, inspecting each individual component after assembly. After calibration, the turntable is labeled "BALANCED" to indicate that the balance has been achieved.

Highly sensitive arm

The tonearm is crafted from a lightweight, vibration-reducing magnesium alloy, cold-drawn to improve the material's characteristics and achieve the required high level of precision. High sensitivity to initial motion is achieved thanks to Technics' traditional gimbal suspension, featuring horizontal and vertical rotation axes that intersect at a single central point and precision bearings with slotted housings.

High quality terminals
The use of gold-plated, milled brass audio terminals and ground terminals prevents degradation in sound quality while simplifying cable connection and disconnection. Additionally, the metal shielding inside the chassis reduces the effects of external noise.
