========

The Opera Prima v2 is the flagship bookshelf model in the Classica line. Designed with a two-way bass-reflex design, it is equipped with custom-designed drivers developed in collaboration with Scan-Speak: a 26 mm soft dome tweeter and a 180 mm woofer. Combining engineering, musicality, and craftsmanship, this speaker delivers detailed, expansive, and natural sound.

The Cabinet
The Prima chassis was developed with a rigorous approach from the initial stages. The cabinet's proportions were redesigned to break up standing waves and minimize localized resonances. The high-density polyurethane internal absorber reduced residual reflections by over an order of magnitude.

Measurements also confirm an extremely rapid decay of the inevitable resonances in the mid-low range. When listening, this translates into a cleaner and more precise output, capable of faithfully reproducing even the smallest ambient and harmonic details.

Internal reinforcements were kept to a minimum, avoiding the introduction of unnecessary rigidity or mass that could generate new colour variations. The upper and lower walls are inclined at specific angles, designed to reduce mutual interaction and improve the distribution of internal waves.

As per  Opera tradition , the transducer housing hole has been carefully milled internally to minimize compression effects, particularly in the midrange. The rear reflex port has been optimized to offer well-controlled bass extension, without compromising the speed of response and naturalness of the low range.

Drivers
In this project, the collaboration with  Scan Speak  played a central role. The transducers were not simply selected "on spec," but developed through an iterative process centred on listening, and only subsequently validated with instrumental measurements.

The 18 cm woofer, designed specifically for  Opera Prima , combines low moving mass with optimized surface damping. The aluminium diaphragm ensures a clean response without any noticeable break-up, while the magnetic assembly, recalibrated in strength and geometry, ensures excellent acceleration in the mid-low range, with a wide and linear excursion.

The tweeter, also  Scan Speak , has been slightly modified compared to the starting model, in particular in the materials of the rear chamber, to obtain a sweet, articulated and coherent high range, with thermal management such as to maintain tonal neutrality even at high volumes.

Crossover
The crossover represents the balance between electrical design and actual acoustic response. We didn't just follow filter theory; we calibrated each component based on actual listening conditions, optimizing the acoustic phase and tonal coherence between the woofer and tweeter.

The woofer's low-pass filter, despite its aluminum diaphragm, does not require a notch cell: control is entrusted to the ratio between inductance and capacitance, a solution that guarantees naturalness and phase coherence. The tweeter's high-pass filter was designed to offer tonal stability even at high sound pressure levels, with particular attention to the voice coil's thermal resistance.

The choice of components is the result of extensive listening sessions: Vishay resistors, Mundorf capacitors, and inductors made to our specifications. Everything is carefully mounted on an in-house designed PCB with an optimized layout. The wiring to the transducers uses high-purity copper with a generous cross-section to ensure transparency, dynamics, and control.

Design philosophy
The design of Opera Prima stems from a simple yet fundamental observation: while the acoustics of a room are meticulously studied, it's often overlooked that a speaker is, in effect, a confined space. And like any enclosed space, it can generate unwanted resonances and colorations.

We therefore paid the utmost attention to the system's internal behavior, working to distribute and contain resonances across a wider frequency range, significantly reducing their amplitude. The result is a speaker capable of combining wide dynamics with an astonishing ability to maintain detail, articulation, and naturalness even at the lowest listening levels.

Particular attention was paid to timbral coherence and soundstage reconstruction: the entire system was designed to ensure uniform horizontal dispersion and a wide, stable, and credible soundstage. Thanks also to the close collaboration with Scan Speak , Opera Prima offers performances that far exceed the expectations of its category, combining engineering, musicality, and craftsmanship.
