First full model change in 11 years
The SRM-500T, which follows the numbering of the SRM-700 series, is the successor to the vacuum tube driver unit SRM-006tS. It uses STAX custom-made low-noise DUAL FETs for the first stage and high-voltage dual triodes 6FQ7/6CG7 for the output stage. While following the traditional circuit design that has already reached perfection as STAX's vacuum tube driver circuit, we have improved the efficiency of the power supply and achieved further improvement in sound quality.

The SRM-500T uses a newly designed power transformer that has a winding for the low-voltage circuit in addition to the conventional high-voltage circuit. By adopting this low-voltage winding, the power supply efficiency has improved, achieving power saving and improved sound quality compared to conventional vacuum tube driver units such as the SRM-006tS.

In addition, a new chassis with increased rigidity compared to the SRM-006tS is used. A hybrid structure that makes extensive use of non-magnetic aluminum has been adopted to further suppress the effects of physical external noise such as vibration. The input system is exclusive to RCA and XLR. The custom-made dual-axis 4-gang volume and RCA input parallel out function common to STAX products are also installed as in the previous model. In addition, the various electronic components used are also carefully designed with consideration for sound quality, performance, and the environment. The fully DC amplifier configuration that does not use any coupling capacitors in the signal circuit remains one of the major features.

The clear, high-through-rate sound and warm, spacious reproduction of the vacuum tube circuit remain intact, while the thickness of the mid-low range has been brushed up. A new option has been introduced for combination with the Advanced Lambda Series (SR-L300/SR-L500 MK2/SR-L700 MK2).
