New solid-state driver using J-FET in the amplification stage
This is an all-semiconductor driver unit that uses a custom low-noise DUAL FET in the first stage and a J-FET in the second amplification stage for the first time in the history of Stax drivers. Traditional DC amplifier configuration that does not use coupling capacitors from input to output. While sharing many aspects with the SRM-700T, such as the low-noise dual FET in the input stage, the case design, and functions, this is the first time in the history of Stax drivers that a dual FET is also used in the second amplification stage. The output stage of the J-FET, which excels in low-noise amplification, and the emitter follower circuit that enables high current supply, allows for ample drive even with music sources with a lot of high-frequency components. The benefits of the circuit design that boasts high output are evident in the vivid and large-scale reproduction that is rich in instantaneous power, sustain, and braking power. The sound that realizes the large amount of information and accurate realism that is the great appeal of the semiconductor method. This is a driver unit that users who want to hear the high-purity music that performers, artists, and recording engineers hear on site, and the details of that music, should definitely experience.
The output of the J-FET and the high-current emitter follower circuit, which excels in low-noise amplification, fully brings out the performance of the ear speaker. It is possible to drive music sources with a lot of high frequency components with plenty of room. We pursue accurate reproduction that conveys the fine details of music.
Main board
The main board has a completely symmetrical design with a large heat sink in the center. Thorough measures are taken to dissipate heat from the power transistors.
Custom-made low-noise dual FETs
The FETs used in the first and second amplification stages are custom low-noise dual FETs that have been carefully selected to combine pair-matched characteristics.
German WIMA film capacitors:
High-quality film capacitors are carefully selected and used in the right places. Designed as a DC amplifier that does not use any coupling capacitors from input to output for better sound quality.

EXTERNAL (BYPASS) mode:
By selecting the EXTERNAL (BYPASS) position on the LEVEL CONTROL MODE switch on the rear panel, you can bypass the built-in volume stage and adjust the volume using the volume control of the source device or an external attenuator. This allows the unit to be used as a power amplifier exclusively for ear speakers.
We have developed a new large aluminum insulator that combines a new material with a high coefficient of friction (high grip) in addition to excellent vibration resistance and load resistance. It provides such high stability that you do not need to hold down the main body even when inserting the ear speaker plug .
